Rechargeable Hearing Aids - Are They Right for You?

Rechargable hearing aids from St Johns Hearing Aid Centre Cumbria and Edinburgh

For a lot of people, the small batteries in traditional hearing aids are one of the most frustrating parts of wearing them. They're fiddly at the best of times, and if you have arthritis, reduced dexterity or any issues with your eyesight, changing them can become a real chore.

Rechargeable hearing aids solve that problem entirely. You charge them overnight, as you would your phone, and they're ready to go in the morning. Most modern rechargeable aids will last a full day on a single charge, with many offering 24 hours or more.

How they work

The end of the day, place your hearing aids in their charging case, most cases are small enough to sit on a bedside table and double as a carry case when you're travelling. Many also have their own built-in battery, so you can top up your aids even when you don’t have access to a plug socket - useful if you're away from home.

When you take them out of the charger in the morning, they switch on automatically, and most models will adjust to your environment without you needing to do anything. No fiddling with settings, no tiny buttons - just put them in and get on with your day.

What else comes with modern rechargeables

Today's rechargeable hearing aids are packed with technology that goes well beyond what's available on the NHS. Most will wirelessly connect to your phone, TV and other devices, streaming sound directly to your ears. Background noise is managed intelligently, and many models include features to help with tinnitus too.
