Hearing Aid Accessories
Hearing aids do a lot on their own, but there are situations where a little extra help makes a real difference. Noisy restaurants, group conversations, watching TV with the family, meetings at work. Accessories are designed for exactly those moments.
We can advise on, supply and demonstrate a range of accessories that work with your hearing aids to make every day listening feel easier and less tiring.
Remote microphones
A small clip-on device that someone near you wears or that you place close to a sound source. It picks up the voice and sends it straight to your hearing aids - cutting through background noise and distance.
Useful for conversations in busy places like cafés or pubs, walking side-by-side when someone keeps turning their head, quieter speakers, and one-to-one chats in noisy workplaces or open plan offices.
Table microphones
Similar idea but designed for groups. Place one in the middle of the table and it picks up whoever is speaking and sends their voice directly to your hearing aids.
Good for family meals, social gatherings, and work meetings where several people are talking, and for avoiding that familiar feeling of nodding along when you're not quite sure you caught everything.
TV streamers
Sends sound from your television directly to your hearing aids at the volume that's right for you, without turning the TV up for everyone else in the room. Particularly helpful for dialogue-heavy programmes where the words can get lost.
Remote controls
Not everyone wants to fiddle with an app. A simple remote control lets you adjust volume and switch programmes without dealing with small buttons on the hearing aid itself. A straightforward option if you have arthritis, reduced dexterity, or just prefer something uncomplicated.
Which one do you need?
It depends on where you're struggling most. If it's one-to-one conversations, a remote microphone is usually the answer.
Groups and meetings, a table microphone. TV, a streamer. Controls, a remote. We'll always check what's compatible with your hearing aids before recommending anything, and we're happy to demonstrate options so you can see the difference for yourself before deciding.
